Modified on Tue, 1 Jul at 6:07 PM

This article will guide you through the process of customizing asset categorization in MProfit. By following these steps, you'll learn how to view, edit, and create categories for your assets.

Step 1: Start by clicking on the Analytics option at the top of the page.

Step 2: On the Analytics page, locate and click on the icon next to the Classic View icon.

Step 3: Select Custom Categories.

Step 4: In the Custom Categories section, you'll see assets categorized by Asset Class and by Asset. Let's use FD as an example.

Step 5: To change the category for FD, click on Edit categorization.

Step 6: To change the category, click on the drop-down menu.

Step 7: From the drop-down menu, you have two options. You can either select an existing category or create a new one. For this example, we'll select an existing category.

Step 8: For the subcategory,

click on the + New Subcategory option,

enter the name of the subcategory, and click Add.

Step 9: You can either create a new category or select an existing one. Once done, click Save.

Step 10: You can customize the categorization for your asset class as per your requirement. Here, we have the custom categories by asset.

Step 11: Let's go to Mutual Funds to understand how this works.

Step 12: In Mutual Funds, each fund in your portfolio is categorized as debt or equity and further subcategorized as equity funds or debt funds. For example, to change the category of Sundaram Money Market Fund Direct Plan from Debt to Equity, follow the same process. Click Edit categorization,

click on the drop-down menu,

and select Equity.

Step 13: For the subcategory,

select Equity funds. Remember, you can add a new subcategory by clicking on the plus icon. For this example, we'll select an existing subcategory.

Step 14: Click Save.

Step 15: You'll see the changes reflected in your portfolio. This change will be visible across all portfolios and families. At the top, you'll find a filter

that displays the default or custom categorizations you've made.

Step 16: At the bottom of the page, you'll find the Category Master,

which shows all default categories created by MPROFIT and any new categories you've created. You can edit or delete these by clicking on the pencil or delete icons respectively.

Step 17: If you want to reset all customizations back to default, click on Edit categorization.

Step 18: Click on Reset all to default button in the left corner.

Remember, this action cannot be undone and will reset all categorizations by asset class and by asset level. If you're sure, click Reset.

Step 19: Your categories will now be back to default.

That's all there is to customizing categorization in MProfit. Thanks for reading!
