How to compute the capital gains for my sovereign and other bonds in MProfit?

In this tutorial, we will explain how you can compute the capital gains for your sovereign and other bonds in MProfit.


Follow the steps below:


Here we will use a few entries in the traded bond section.

Purchase details: On January 1, 2023, HDFC Credit Financial Services and Motut Finance were purchased.

Sale details: Motut Finance was sold on December 1, 2023, within a year of purchase. HDFC Credit Financial Services was sold on March 1, 2024, more than a year after purchase.

It's important to understand that selling a traded bond within a year of purchase results in a short-term capital gain.

If the bond is sold after a year, it leads to long-term capital gains.


Let's verify the following:


Step 1: Navigate to the Reports section.

Step 2: Select Capital Gains.

Step 3: Now, select Capita Gains - ITR Format.

Step 4: Then select Traded Bonds.

Step 5: Customize the Period from the drop-down menu.

Step 6: Finally, click on Generate Report.



The report indicates that Motut Finance if sold within a year, results in a short-term capital gain, while HDFC Financial Services if sold after a year, leads to a long-term capital gain.
