In this tutorial, we will explain how you can compute the capital gains for your sovereign and other bonds in MProfit.
Follow the steps below:
Here we will use a few entries in the traded bond section.
Purchase details: On January 1, 2023, HDFC Credit Financial Services and Motut Finance were purchased.
Sale details: Motut Finance was sold on December 1, 2023, within a year of purchase. HDFC Credit Financial Services was sold on March 1, 2024, more than a year after purchase.
It's important to understand that selling a traded bond within a year of purchase results in a short-term capital gain.
If the bond is sold after a year, it leads to long-term capital gains.
Let's verify the following:
Step 1: Navigate to the Reports section.
Step 2: Select Capital Gains.
Step 3: Now, select Capita Gains - ITR Format.
Step 4: Then select Traded Bonds.
Step 5: Customize the Period from the drop-down menu.
Step 6: Finally, click on Generate Report.
The report indicates that Motut Finance if sold within a year, results in a short-term capital gain, while HDFC Financial Services if sold after a year, leads to a long-term capital gain.
This is how you can seamlessly compute the capital gains for your sovereign and other bonds in MProfit!
