Why Capital Gains reports for Equity Mutual Fund and Debt Mutual Fund are not combined together?

edited July 2013 in General
Tax treatment for Equity Mutual Fund is different than Debt Mutual Fund. At current rates, short term capital gain on Equity Mutual fund is 15% and long term capital gain (beyond one year) is exempt. For Debt Mutual Fund, the long term (above one year) is 10% without indexation and 20% with indexation. Short term capital gain for Debt Mutual Fund is added to the taxable income. Hence, both reports are shown separately
